GUARANA Indians - visit
to Reserve of the Satere-Mawe tribe
This new and special expedition brings you deep into virgin jungle near Maues, 267km from Manaus. We will visit the reserve of the Satere-Mawe Indians. Their Tuchaua will show us his tribe, its myths, legends and rituais. We will live with the indians, explore with them the jungle and its wildlife and observe them on their hunting and fishing expeditions for survival. ![]() 05 days Indian Reserve Value: R$ 1.250 BRL (Brazilian Reais) per person
Details of GUARANA Indian Expedition (*) 01 Day The tour starts at 15 p.m. We travel by regional boat to Maues (267km from Manaus). We will pass the Meeting of the Waters and observe some pink and grey dolphins. 02 Day After arrival at 10 a.m. in Maues we will meet our indian guide. During lunch he will give a short briefing about the tribe, precautions to be taken when visiting the reserve and the rituals. During the transfer to the indian reserve (4 hours) we will stop at a sandy river beach and take some jungle fruits. Late afternoon we will arrive in the indian village and being greeted by the Tuchaua and his family. He will show us his village and daily life of the indians. Dinner and participation in rituals of the Satere-Mawe such as the Sapko Guarana Drink. Overnight in the house of the Tuchaua. 03 Day We will get up early in the morning to help the Satere Mawe to catch some fish for lunch. Canoeing in the beautiful igarape (flooded jungle area) with our indian guide and a 2 hours jungle trek to the next indian village. Lunch, exchange of gifts and farewell. There will be an opportunity to purchase some handycrafts. Transfer in canoe to the Igarape Limao south of Maues. In the evening night excursion by canoe to observe some animals and do fishing with harpon. Overnight in native house. 04 Day After breakfast we will explore the virgin jungle of the Igarape Limao. The native guide will show us how to survive in the jungle (fruits, hunting techniques, jungle camping, medical plants, obtaining fresh water) and three Samuaua trees. Farewll from the jungle with the traditional Asai jungle wine, which will be prepared fresh for us. Depending on the water level tranfer after lunch on a jungle path or by motorized canoe to the Vera Cruz Beach. Relaxing on the sandy river beaches and transfer bo Maues, where the regional boat to Manaus leaves at 18 hs. 05 Day After an exiting river cruise we will arrive in Manaus next day in the afternoon. On the way we will again pass the meeting of the waters (Black Rio Negro River and Rio Solimoes) and have the chance to see pink and grey dolphins. ![]() (*) Program subject to change due to wheather conditions, water levels and suggestions made by the Indian Tuchaua during our stay in the reserve.
