Expediton - Maues:
Land
of the Guarana and Indians
This expedition brings you deep into virgin jungle near Maues, 267 km from Manaus. We will live with natives, explore with them the jungle and its wildlife and observe them on their hunting and fishing activities for survival. Adventure spirit and good health (long jungle trekkings, overnights in the jungle) required. 07 days Igarape Acu Value: R$ 1.200 BRL (Brazilian Reais) per person. Details Andaconda Expedition (*) 01 Day The tour starts at 15 p.m. We travel by regional boat to Maues (267km from Manaus). We will pass the Meeting of the Waters and observe some pink dolphins. 02 Day After arrival at 11 a.m. in Maues we will meet our native guide. During lunch he will give a short briefing about the area and precautions to be taken when visiting the jungle and indigenous communities. During the transfer to our jungle base (6 hours) we will stop at native communities to take some jungle fruits and fish piranhas in the Parana River. Late afternoon we will arrive at our base at the Igarape Acu. After dinner we will go for aligator spotting. 03 Day Before breakfast we go for sunrise canoeing in the beautiful igapo (flooded jungle area) to spot exotic birds and monkeys. After breakfast we will explore the virgin jungle watching sloths. The native guide will show us how to survive in the jungle (fruits, hunting techniques, jungle camping, medical plants, obtaining fresh water). In the afternoon we will visit the native village Sao Tome and its chacras (Manioc and Guarana plantation). The natives will prepare for us the traditional Sapko (Guarana) drink. 04 Day We will get up early in the morning to explore the primary jungle of the igarape (jungle channel) Anaconda to observe the wildlife and prepare our jungle camp. With some luck we will hear in the night the sounds of the jaguar. 05 Day After breakfast we will leave the primary jungle and go on a secret indian path from the Igarape Acu to the community Novo Paraiso (4 hours). The natives will prepare a dinner with exotic food and also share their traditional Sapko (Guarana) drink with us. In the night the native guide will take us for fishing with harpon. Before sleeping we start the great Ayahuasca Ritual 06 Day In the morning we will continue on the indian path to the Igarape Limao. Transfer in motorized canue to a sidearm of the Igarape Limao, where we will learn how to prepare the Asai jungle wine and to find medical plants in the jungle. A small jungle trek brings us to three huge samuaua trees. Depending on the water level of the igarape, we will either continue in motorized canoe or by jungle trekking (2 hours) to the Vera Cruz beach. Lunch and relaxing on the sandy river beaches until our transfer guide brings us back to Maues, where the regional boat to Manaus is leaving at 18 hs. 07 Day After an exciting river cruise we will arrive in Manaus in the evening, passing again the meeting of the waters (Solimoes with Black River).
